Zinkgruvan Mining´s challange

  • Zinkgruvan Mining

Case closed: Harnessing the energy of mine water

Every year, large amounts of water are used in mining production, with a flow rate of about 100 cubic metres per hour. The mine water has a temperature of around 14 degrees and could therefore be used as an energy source for both heating and cooling. But because it contains salt and minerals, it is corrosive. This makes it difficult to use the mine water as an energy source through heat exchange.
Zinkgruvan Mining is constantly working towards more energy-efficient and sustainable mining operations, and therefore wants to find a solution to this challenge.
