Purpose and goal
The purpose of this project is to improve the Swedish mining industry’s sustainability efforts by developing and implementing a sustainability management system (SMS) for social acceptance which based on stakeholder dialogue creates, implements, evaluates and develops sustainable processes along the entire value chain.

Structure and implementation
The project will be implemented through: 1. Literature reviews. 2. Interactive workshops. 3. Stakeholder surveys. 4. Stakeholder interviews. 5. Development and documentation of SMS. 6. Dissemination of results via national and international conferences and scientific publications.

Expected results
Based on the needs of the company and existing operational management systems (‘making things right’) the objective with this project is to develop and integrate a stakeholder-driven and values-based (‘doing the right things’) SMS. The project aims to test whether previous research, which is more conceptual by its nature, can be applied in practice. SMS will be integrated into the company’s existing operational management systems and will thus make an important contribution to the empirical research on how CSR is practiced from an inside perspective.
