AI in Mining explores the role AI and automation have played in the development of the mining industry. This year’s theme focuses on the technology development timeline, reflecting on the past 10–15 years of advancements in digitalization and automation. Through presentations of research and innovation projects – many funded by the strategic innovation programs – we highlight key milestones and lessons learned from this progress.
AI in Mining is an event that brings together industry leaders and technology experts from the mining and metals sector, researchers and innovators in AI, digitalization, and automation, international and national industry collaboration stakeholders, as well as startups and SMEs specializing in mining technology.
This year’s event features:
- Industry perspectives. Boliden and Volvo Construction Equipment share their journey and how their collaboration has influenced both technology development and diversity in the mining sector.
- Technological challenges. We discuss the obstacles and opportunities of implementing new technology in organizations, with a focus on human-centered development.
- AI beyond the mining sector. We explore how other industries impact and are influenced by AI and automation, and what insights can be transferred.
- International outlook. The event opens with a global perspective, placing the developments in a broader context.
