Open Case: Automated scrap removal in processing plant
LKAB needs an automated system to inspect and remove scrap before it reaches the processing plant. The system must identify and remove large pieces of material, such as metal parts, bolts, boulders, and other debris, that can cause issues down the processing line.
Currently, manual inspection is required, but it is difficult to remove scrap before it causes machine failures or damage. LKAB aims to automate the detection and removal of scrap to improve efficiency and prevent costly downtime.
LKAB is looking for solutions ranging from hardware to software, including sensors, cameras, robotic arms, and automatic detection with AI.
